I sure hope none of the Q's are about Marner. Everyone needs to shut the (frank) up about Marner and just wait for the inevitable 5 year $10.5m contract(give or take a bit of cash or term).

Now I will go read all the Q's about Marner.

Here's my big Q.... Will Marty poopbag Marincin actually see NHL ice next year in a Leaf uniform. My A would be "Dear God I hope not"

If the Islanders did offer sheet Marner this year believe that the Leafs will find a way to offer sheet Barzal next year

And I love the "it'll be very late firsts" crowd too: because perennial contenders have so much cap space all the time. Just tons of it.

$10.5M is a huge over-payment for only 5 years.

I mean, were I the Leafs, I'd settle for it and all, but it's still an over-payment.

EDIT: Even though 5 years is the absolute worst term.

I love the fact Leaf fans are plotting a retaliatory offer sheet on Barzal before the apparent Marner Offer Sheet has even happened. 😂

I think they'd probably walk on that, get their 4 1sts and go shopping.

You could snag a reclamation project in Puljujarvi from EDM (another 4th overall pick); you could sign Jake Gardiner, have cash to extend Barrie and/or Muzzin. You could take a cap dump for even more assets and depth players, maybe get a pending FA out of the mix.

You could sign some depth in McQuaid or Dzingel. Justin Williams would look pretty good on Tavares' wing.

Cap and 1st round picks. Limitless potential in this cap-strapped league.

Honest to God, Marincin has to have some dirty pictures of Babcock or something like that to get another contract. Honestly I seen better players in beer leagues then him.

Depth is all... waiting to have enough young guys to push him out. Plus he is cheap.

A lot of these questions make my head hurt.

At what point do we start to say Islanders have no cap and no interest? It would have happened by now.

Islanders have 8 million in cap. It's too late. They are happy overpaying Varlamov
